Actions

Rónán is an experienced defence practitioner, primarily engaged in work throughout the South East. He is regularly instructed in relation to matters involving complex telephone analysis, organised crime and cases requiring sensitive cross examination. His practice covers the full spectrum of violent and sexual offending.

Recent instructions include conspiracy to evade duty in respect of 1.2 tonnes of tobacco and a large-scale phishing fraud involving retrospective analysis of telephone and computer data. Previous experience as led junior includes conspiracies to defraud and launder the proceeds of crime in excess of £10 million.

Rónán is known for his calm, relaxed and engaging manner, alongside a client focused approach to all cases.

Notable Cases (As Junior Alone)

R v S  (COA, February 2024) Conviction successfully quashed. The case involved 2 carers accused of inflicting grievous the bodily harm against a highly disabled child in their care.

R v RS – Rape. C alleged that she had been drugged and subjected to rape by multiple males, with the  incident itself both recorded and broadcast over social media. Sensitive S41 cross examination.

R v CR- Rape within the currency of a relationship. Case involved contemporaneous allegations of domestic assault and a history of abuse.

R v AC- Multi-handed 12 week trial involving allegations human trafficking and exploitation. Acted as leading junior.

R v M – Conspiracy to supply in excess of 90 KG of cocaine.

R v JM- Conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. Case involved significant telephone and location analysis.

R v KK- Penetrative sexual assault.  The issue was consent, where the parties met on the date of the incident and the Defendant acted in breach of a sexual risk order by doing so.

R v EH- Attempted murder, acting as led junior. Drug feud involving multiple discharges from a live firearm in central Wolverhampton.

R v WL- Aggravated burglary. Case involved the targeting of cannabis farm by a group of armed masked males.

R v RS- Murder, acting as led junior. Revenge attack between feuding drug lines.

R v MI- Rape, acting as led junior. Multi-handed case alleging the historic abuse of vulnerable children, the majority of whom were in care.

R v W- Trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence. W was arrested in the bedroom of a married woman and her child, with whom he held no connection.
