Experienced in a broad range of criminal proceedings, Iwona appears daily in Crown, Magistrates’ and Youth Court. She has been instructed on matters which include offences of violence, drug offences, dishonesty offences, offences relating to dangerous dogs, as well as a variety of driving offences; she also represents individuals in Extradition hearings.

Before commencing Pupillage, Iwona worked as a paralegal and legal researcher at Peters & Peters Solicitors where she gained experience in business crime.

Iwona is a trained Free Representation Unit advocate and has conducted, and won, 2 trials at the Employment Tribunal.

Iwona is bi-lingual and can take instructions in Polish.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Iwona performed worldwide as a concert violinist and taught at top London music colleges.

Iwona is Grade 1 prosecutor for the CPS.

 

Notable Cases:

R v Ward, St Albans Crown Court (2019) – after successful mitigation, secured a suspended sentence in a child neglect case where a toddler fell out of a van on a motorway.

R v Teleford, Stratford Magistrates’ Court (2019) – successful defence, which resulted in the acquittal of T, after a trial in the case of handling stolen goods.

R v Unuayan, Havering Magistrates’ Court (2019) – successful defence, which resulted in the acquittal of U, after a trial in the case of assault and breach of a non-molestation order.

R v H (youth),Ealing Magistrates’ Court (2019) – successful prosecution, which resulted in the conviction of H, after a trial in the case of joint-enterprise knife-point robbery.

R v N (youth),Stratford Magistrates’ Court (2019) – successful prosecution, which resulted in the conviction of N, after a trial in the case of possession of a bladed article.
