Nicola Shannon KC, leading Margia Mostafa achieved convictions against a 22-year-old serial sex offender described by the trial judge as “an opportunistic sexual predator” who had “no respect for the court”. He received a life sentence after he was successfully prosecuted at Southwark Crown Court. Instructed by Daniel Geller of London RASSO.

Levi Bancroft raped three vulnerable complainants – two 15 year-old girls and an adult, transgender woman, in a series of offences between 2018 and 2023. Courageous accounts from the victims themselves were heard by the jury at Southwark Crown Court, along with extensive CCTV evidence gathered in investigations undertaken by both the Metropolitan and Thames Valley Police in a trial lasting over three weeks. The case involved the use of multiple special measures to present evidence from the three complainants as well as careful cross-examination of the defendant (who had the assistance of an intermediary).

In sentencing Mr Bancroft on 30th May 2025, following the convictions in March, the judge found him to be “an extremely dangerous young man” whose offending was “persistent, opportunistic and ruthless”. He considered Mr Bancroft to be someone who posed “a huge and unquantifiable risk to women and girls” which could only be managed by a sentence of imprisonment for life.
