Serious Crime - Notable Recent Cases

Present: R v Jaden Forde & Others, Old Bailey. Ahmed Beker, 19, was allegedly murdered by a group of four young men on stolen mopeds in Paddington Green on February 26 last year. News story here

R v Kavian Vaughan (2023) Old Bailey: Shea Gordon was repeatedly stabbed in the street just after midnight on 4 September 2022 during an 18th birthday party in Bow, East London. News story here

R v Ross Pallett (2023), Old Bailey, murder. East London man beat his step-brother to death over ‘racist’ rant caught on doorbell camera. News story here

R v Tariq Monteiro (2023), Old Bailey, murder. The defendant was one of a group of 6  who chase the victim in cars and on foot before stabbing him to death with a machete in a doorway when he left a restaurant in Great Portland Street near Euston in August 2019. Monteiro, who raps as Suspect, and Mohamud, known as Swavey, posted videos online mocking their victim and celebrating his killing. News story here

R v Geraldo Annan (2023), Inner London Crown Court, murder, in which the victim was a target of a “honeytrap”, where three women had gained access on the promise of sexual liaisons that never happened. News story here

R v Jonathan Cox (2022), Guildford Crown Court, murder. The victim, 17-year-old Kyle Wright, was stabbed to death at a house party he wasn’t invited to.

Civil Work

Multiple appearances in civil Tax Tribunals in VAT cases. Cases include:

  • Data Select (‘Dragon’ Peter Jones’ Company)
  • Mobile Sourcing (against Geoffrey Cox QC) in First Tier and on Appeal.
  • Multiple other VAT cases, typically involving tens of millions of tax.

These cases involve a detailed understanding of International ‘grey markets’ and Arbitrage opportunities, working with experts from firms such as PWC.

Restraint and Confiscation
