Craig Harris successfully challenges Olympic athlete’s alleged ‘whereabouts’ Filing Failure
The World Anti-Doping Agency ‘whereabouts’ rules, applied via its ‘International Standard for Testing and Investigations’ across national and international sports organisations, impose far more stringent obligations upon elite athletes than most fans and observers are aware. Whilst there might be justifiable reasons for that, decisions are sometimes made under those rules that would be unjust if upheld, even by reference to the extremely high standards the rules set. Those decisions might be challengeable.
Craig took such a challenge on behalf of an elite, Olympic athlete, resulting in a review and the overturning of the initial decision of an international sports governing body to record a whereabouts Filing Failure ‘strike’ against the athlete. The athlete’s record is now cleared.
