Defendant acquitted of attempted murder and possession with intent to endanger life
The defendant, aged 19, was acquitted at the Old Bailey of attempted murder and possession of a firearm, a Skorpion submachine gun, with intent to endanger life. He had admitted possessing a prohibited firearm at a previous hearing. His case was that he had been forced to transfer the firearm between addresses in North London by older gang members, when he and his friend were confronted by a masked group armed with machetes – he had produced the firearm to scare them off, not to kill any of them
Chris Henley KC, leading Adam Morgan, were brought into the case after the victim of the shooting and his 3 friends had already been the subject of pre-recorded, section 28 cross-examination. After new phone download and DNA evidence was revealed they were all cross-examined once more before the jury.
