Julia Smart QC secures acquittal in “baby-shaking” murder trial

Julia Smart Q.C. successfully represented the mother in a 3 week baby-shaking murder trial at Chester Crown Court.  Her client was acquitted of murder following a successful submission of no case to answer and then unanimously acquitted by the jury of the alternative of causing/allowing the death of a child .  There was substantial expert medical evidence in the case requiring skilful cross examination.
