Kane Sharpe successful with modern slavery defence against four offences of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
Kane’s client was arrested by police on multiple occasions street dealing crack cocaine and heroin. He said at trial that he was being forced to sell the drugs by gang members and being held in debt bondage, and relied on the defence in section 45 Modern Slavery Act 2015. After a 5-day trial and many hours of deliberation, the jury at Croydon crown court unanimously acquitted him.
