Kieran Galvin secures acquittal in Operation Jacinth

Kieran Galvin, instructed by Blackfords Solicitors,  secured the acquittal of Darren Carvill, charged with fraudulent evasion of excise duty on a cargo of 5,949,000 cigarettes, following a 2 year investigation by HMRC. The amount of duty evaded was said to be £1,583,770.  Following a two week trial at Birmingham Crown Court, Mr Carvill was the only defendant to be acquitted in this Operation and in the linked Operation Dijon,  other defendants having either pleaded guilty or been convicted after trial
