Pippa McAtasney KC and Harry MacDonald secure murder and manslaughter acquittals at Lewes Crown Court.

Pippa and Harry were instructed on behalf of the first defendant in relation to the alleged murder of a man in December 2019. The trial, before Mrs Justice Eady DBE, followed an investigation that lasted over 5 years and involved extremely complex evidence concerning the cause of death from numerous leading medical experts. This evidence included detailed analysis of the development of a fatal septic infection that was not identified by treating clinicians. Pippa and Harry, assisted by a battery of distinguished defence experts, fought to establish that there was no causative link between the conduct of their client and the eventual death.
