Richard Hearnden secures the conviction of a woman who sexually abused two children in the 1980s and 1990s. The jury, sitting at Chichester Crown Court, heard evidence from two overseas school students, now adults in their 40s, who had witnessed the woman performing a sex act on the 6 year old boy and physically abusing the older girl. The jury also heard that the students had reported what they had seen to the police at the time, and that the woman was arrested but not prosecuted until the complainants came forward to the police in 2019. Both complainants read out deeply moving victim personal statements at the sentencing hearing on 20th May. The defendant, aged 62, was sentenced to 8 years imprisonment.
