George Payne of Furnival Chambers and Stephen Davies of Edwards Duthies Shamash Solicitors secure verdicts of not guilty by reason of insanity at Harrow Crown Court. Representing a privately funded defence by someone suffering from schizophrenia George Payne secured verdicts of not guilty by reason of inanity. At trial the jury heard complex psychiatric evidence as well as a series of witnesses to the good character of the defendant. The defendant had been accused of possessing two knives in a public place in London. The Judge imposed an absolute discharge at the end of the trial given the medical recovery the defendant had made.
