Yusuf Solley appointed as a Commissioner for the Westminster Commission on Joint Enterprise
We are pleased to announce that Yusuf Solley has been appointed as a Commissioner for the Westminster Commission on Joint Enterprise.
On 12 November 2024, the All Party Parliamentary Group on Miscarriages of Justice (APPGMJ), chaired by Kim Johnson MP, launched the Westminster Commission on Joint Enterprise. The Westminster Commission is Chaired by Lord Woodley, and co-chaired by academics Dr Louise Hewitt, founder of the Innocence Project London, and Dr Bharat Malkani, a specialist in race and justice.
Over the next 18 months, this Parliamentary Inquiry will be receiving evidence over a number of sessions examining the law and practice of joint enterprise and any prospect for reform, as part of its terms of reference. It will present back to the APPG by way of a detailed report and provide recommendations on the possibility of reform of the law and practice of the joint enterprise doctrine. The Commission will be seeking evidential submissions from lawyers, academics, experts and investigators as well as victims of miscarriage of justice and their representatives.
