Often described as a fearless advocate, She has a proven track record of securing acquittals and achieving fantastic results for her clients. Lily is particularly skilful at representing vulnerable and youth clients. She has successfully defended in serious matters including violent offences and sexual assaults. Lily has also achieved results for clients on the basis of effective written representations on the law including persuading the Crown to not proceed on a robbery on a point of law and not proceeding on a S.18 matter on public interest grounds.

Lily is a Grade 3 CPS Prosecutor and has prosecuted in a number of serious cases including S.18s, firearm cases and serious robbery offences. Clients often request Lily by name, due to being impressed with her previous results. Speaking of one such client who was acquitted of assaulting an emergency worker, a solicitor commented: “…my client was elated with the not guilty verdict that was arrived at and she commented on Miss Roberts-Phelps’ excellent advocacy skills, but mostly importantly she felt that a strong fight for justice was advanced on her behalf and thoroughly achieved”.

During her pupillage, Lily was awarded the Pupil’s Advocacy Prize from the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple and was noted by one of the judges as being “one of the most gifted advocates he had ever encountered on the pupils’ course
