Joel Smith successfully prosecutes three defendants for the stabbing of a 21-year-old

Joel Smith, led by Anthony Orchard KC of 5 King’s Bench Walk, successfully prosecuted three defendants for the stabbing of a 21-year-old, in what appears to have been a random gang style attack by six individuals in February 2021. Of the other three attackers, one is believed to have fled the jurisdiction, and two remain unidentified. The deceased and his friend were attacked as they walked in Willesden Lane, NW6. The victim was fatally stabbed, whilst his friend suffered a severe stab injury to his back. The friend managed to escape into a nearby shop. Both were the victims of mistaken identity. After a 5-week trial at the Central Criminal Court, two defendants were convicted of murder. A third pleaded guilty to manslaughter at the beginning of the trial.  All three will be sentenced on the 3rd August.
