Lily Roberts Phelps secures acquittal on charges of attempted robbery and s18

Lily Roberts Phelps, instructed by Safiya Sinclair, secures acquittal on charges of attempted robbery and s18. The trial involved a stabbing of a 15 year old, who suffered a punctured lung as a result of a knife wound to the back. The complainant was assisted by an intermediary during trial. The stabbing was said to have occurred over the defendant trying to take the complainant’s phone. A ‘not guilty’ verdict on the attempted robbery was directed at the end of the prosecution’s case. The defence to the s18 was that he was acting in pre-emptive self defence.
